Barnie Duncan plays another ally character during the Mystic Force series. Toby Slambrook is introduced early in Mystic Force. Toby is the manager of the Rock Porium Music Store. Toby tries to remain calm but shows frustation quickly when his employees are not doing their work. Toby is a big fan of Jimmy Hendrix along with other classic Music sensations. Toby has a strong obession with puzzles and is very good with them. Toby remains oblivious for a long while to the strange happenings around Briarwood until he is captured by Necrolai during the Gatekeeper story. Toby is saved by the Rangers. He continues to remain unaware though that the Rangers are in fact his employees. While Toby seems simple-minded he is infact very clever. Toby helps the Rangers with the Fireheart chest by cracking it's code. The subplot where he interacted with Phineas during the episode "Scaredy Cat" was also a lot of fun.
Everything changes during the "Light Source" two-parter when the Rangers are weakened in battle against Hekatoid. The Rangers tell Toby everything and he makes up a plan to help them thinking the whole thing is a joke. His plan actually works and he sees them regain their powers and learns they were telling the truth. Toby proves himself a true friend to the Rangers. Toby and Phineas gather together people from both the woods and the city. They all gather together and state "We believe in Magic" and Power up the team during the final fight. Toby ends up dating Necrolai's human form. If I had to choose I like Piggy better but both roles work well. Toby is definitely a cool ally in my book.
